Broken Heart Ranch owners, Greg and Linda Will, have been in the ranching industry for many years.
In the late nineties we were looking to improve our equine breeding stock. Research of various breeding programs resulted in our calling about a horse in Merkel, Texas. That, in turn, led to a phone call to the breeder, the legendary Mr. Frank Perkins of Flint, Texas. After several long conversations with Frank, we decided to travel to Texas and take a look at these horses.
That first trip changed everything. Frank Perkins and his wonderful family have remained incredible friends and supporters thru the years.
We bought several horses from the Perkins Ranch, including a weanling, Mr Sparta Tiveo, "Keeper". Keeper was eventually put in training with three time World Champion and 17 time Reserve Champion, Steve Orth of Maysville, Oklahoma. Keeper earned 170 AQHA points in heading, heeling, roping and reining.
We continued to make trips to Texas and grew to love the people, politics and beauty of the state. So, when the opportunity came for us to sell our ranches in Washington and purchase the Circle Bar H Ranch and Arena in Van, Texas, we were ready. Our brand in Washington was a broken heart, so we renamed our Texas ranch The Broken Heart Ranch.
